Born January 19, 1935, in the Caribbean coastal town of Arecibo, our Papi, Alex Martinez Correa, left this earth near the Pacific coast on September 7, 2024. After the early death of his father, Ysidro, with his mom and many siblings he left Puerto Rico. Alex, like his beloved baseball team - the Giants, came to the Bay area via a short stop in New York. From that story this faith filled, hard worker became a beloved machinist at Memorex for over 30 years. He leaves a large community in San Jose.
With his handy gifts he tended his garden, repaired his home, and serviced his own cars. He shared these gifts generously with extended family and friends. His dual gifts of hospitality and joy for holidays will be missed.
Alex was loyal to his mother, Carmen, until her dying day and is preceded in death by his siblings Francisco, Margarita, and Wilson Maldonado as well as Isabelino, Damaris, Rosa,, and Joaquin Martinez
He is survived by his daughters Evalina Ybarra (Frank), Myrna Appleby (Michael) and Alexis Beckmann (Jerry) and their mother Neida Martinez and their children: Zachary Ybarra, Aaron Ybarra, Malakai Ybarra, Bianca Appleby, Samantha Appleby, Drayke Beckmann, and Aksel Beckmann as well as his siblings Leila, Nectar, Andres, and Carlos Martinez, and Edna Vargas.
